Backcountry skiing

Ski touring and backcountry enthusiasts will be delighted at The Valinouët! 2 climbs are accessible from the base of the mountain:

The Trail à Théo, on the main face of the mountain, 2.3 km long, and the Trail à Victor, on the northwest face of the mountain, 3.3 km long. The descent takes place on the alpine ski trails.

To access the climbs, you must purchase a ticket at a cost of $13.00, available at the station ticket office, as well as at the information desk.

 

Ascent trails are not patrolled or maintained. For assistance, please speak to a member of staff at the station.

The information desk can be reached by telephone at 1 866 260-8254, ext. 0, during station opening hours. Outside these hours, call 911.

Le Valinouët reserves the right to charge a fee of $250 for any request for assistance outside its opening hours and/or outside the marked trails.

 

SECURITY RULES

  • Check and respect the opening and closing times of the trails before starting the ascent.
  • Respect the mountain code of conduct at all times.
  • Ascend only by designated and marked places. Stay visible and go up in single file. It is forbidden to descend via the alpine hiking trails.
  • It is forbidden to access trails that are closed or being groomed. If you come across a motorized vehicle (ATV, snow groomer), stop at the edge of the track.
  • It is forbidden to climb on the ski trails intended for the descent.
  • Climbing alone is not recommended. If this is the case, inform someone close to you of your mountain outing. Have a charged cell phone with you. Be cautious! However, the cellular network does not reach everywhere on the mountain. Knowledge of first aid is strongly recommended.
